I wasn't there to see it, but Rob Cameron tells me that Baynish squeaked out a win against the Oilers and Bridgewater was victorious over Beers on You.  With the win, Baynish takes over top spot in the standings but have the bye this week.  Assante and Bridewater need a win this week to take over top spot after the first set of byes are in the books.

Week 2 - New Team, New Name, and a Shut Out (sorry Rob C)

We welcomed our newest team in week 2 and they should be getting over there aches and pains from sweeping about now.  We also ushered in a new era as Just Alex, who was Ex Alex, is now known as 'Beers on You'.  Finally, and I am gloating, Baynish was shut out and shook early against a rebounding Assante team.

Week 1 is in the books!

We've been waiting for it, it arrived, and it kicked Assante right in the backside.  Week 1 has come and gone, and so have two teams dreams of an undefeated season as Assante goes down to Bridgewater by a score of 8 to 1 and Ex Alex falls to Baynish 8 to 4.

Welcome to the 2013/14 Season

Hi Everyone,

A new season is upon us.  We have 4 returning teams from last year and are please to welcome a new one...the Cape Breton Oilers.

The dues per person for the year are $280.00.  Everyone gets 15 weeks of regular season, 3 weeks of playoffs and a year end pizza night on the last night.  As we have no league bank account, please make the cheques payable to me, as I will have already paid for the ice time for the year (and have receipt of proof).

Reminder of the rules.  The last end should not start after 9:50, losing team decides when to shake to end the game.  Regular season games can end in a tie, playoffs throw skip stones only if tied and past 9:50.

Tuesday's action saw Assante, coming from the 5th seed, beat the 1 seed, Baynish, to advance to the final against the 3 seed, Bridgewater.  The 1 and 2 seed will meet in the consolation game and Just Alex has the week off, but we hope they join us for Pizza and Beer Tuesday night.

In the lone game of the week, Bridgewater continued their winning ways and secured a spot in the final with a close win over Baynish.

Next week, Assante and Baynish battle in our second semi final and Just Alex and Formerly 4 try to avoid the basement and move on to the consolation game.

March Madness

Forget NCAA, we have our own March Madness with the 2 higher seeds losing in the opening round of playoffs.  Both games were tight, coming down to final stones in both.  Assante had the first OT win of the playoffs, putting one on the button that just refused to be taken out.

Still trying to alter schedule, but no luck so far, which means things could get ugly in the schedule as Assante is mostly out this week and Bridgewater having 6pm issues.  I will continue to try, so stay tuned, but if things don't get shifted, teams need to be ready to play the following schedule.

The end of the regular season was capped of with wins by Formerly 4 and Bridgewater, who will kick off the playoffs this week in Game 1 as seeds 2 and 3 faceoff for a shot at Baynish who gets the playoff week 1 bye.

Just Alex and Assante battle for a chance to continue toward the championship.

Congrats to my friends at Assante who got their first win tonight, and as the losing skip, it was well deserved as they all curled well and called a good game.  Great job guys, many more wins are in your future.

Officially they took down Formerly 4 by a score of 7 to 2.  In other action, Baynish beat Bridgewater 8 to 2.
